This is a complex season, one which can change dramatically through the days, weeks and months, particularly if this hits in January for you. If you’re lucky, you experience a flow of reflective days from the festive period into the dawning of a new year. At times, it can even feel like a joyful state.
But by the time you hit the second week of January, back at work, the gear dramatically shifts and reality hits. The energy is sucked from your mind, with body clearly not ready for any type of meeting. Likely, your login password is typed in with dread - or more tellingly - forgotten. Opening your inbox after the holidays is the adult version of a baby sucking on a piece of lemon, its sweet face quickly turning into disgust.
But the only thing your body and mind is equipped to do, in this season, is slowness. Gentle, inward reflection and a purposeful pace. Like the rest of nature, we are supposed to be hibernating in the cold, dark months, but the economy has other ideas. So how do we deal with the abruptness of work returning and the need to be present and productive?
